Lock in these October events

October is my favorite month, and one of the reasons is all the fun events I get to go to. I hope I get to see you at some of these. Please come by and say hello.

October 4th – Mysticon 2025 – Ravenswood, WV

I have the honor of being a guest speaker at Mysticon 2025, at the Ravenswood branch of the Jackson County Public Library. This celebration of cryptids, the paranormal, and all things unexplained & spooky starts at noon and goes until 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 4th. There will be speakers, contests, vendors, face painting, crafts, raffles and more. My talk is scheduled for 2:30, but you’ll want to hear from the other speakers, too. When I’m not giving my presentation (or looking for some food), you can find me in the vendor area selling my books! For more information, follow Jackson County Public Library on Facebook, and join the Ravenswood Mysticon Facebook group.

October 25th – West Virginia Book Festival – Charleston, WV

The West Virginia Book Festival is probably the biggest celebration of books and authors in the state, and it’s held every year in our lovely state capital, at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center. As always, find me again in the Marketplace Vendor area on October 25th, working that 9 to 5 shift at my book table.

See you there!

I hope ya’ll get a chance to experience either of these fun fall bookish events. Please come and say hi! I always love seeing you guys.

WV Book Festival (Charleston) & Writers Can Read (Huntington)

Just ten days away from the West Virginia Book Festival in Charleston, WV, where I will be selling my books and merch. I always love visiting our capital and connecting with readers there. Don’t miss it—October 19th, from 8:oo a.m. to 5:00 p.m., find authors like me selling books in the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center. Attend writing workshops, presentations, and more, including talks and signings from this year’s featured authors, Gregg Hurwitz, Joy Callaway, Gene Luen Yang, Mia Manasala, and Sadeqa Johnson. Find out more details on all the programs and a schedule at www.wvbookfestival.org. It’s all free! We can’t wait to see you there.

A few days later, on Monday, October 21st, I’ll be joining my friend and colleague Carter Taylor Seaton as the two Featured Writers at the Writers Can Read Open Mic Night Series in Huntington, WV. Be at Heritage Station by 7:00 p.m., and come with something of your own to read, if you want!

I always love visiting Huntington and can’t wait to see everyone there. I’m so glad that Michael Connick has taken over the reins of this monthly event, which was formerly organized by Carter.
