See you at the Lewisburg Literary Festival this weekend

David Baldacci among writers headlining the Lewisburg Literary Festival for 2024

Lewisburg, one of my favorite WV small towns, is home to cute little shops, art galleries, caves, restaurants, an indie bookstore, and, every August, the Lewisburg Literary Festival, one of my favorite events. This year, come out on August 2nd–3rd for this totally free festival that brings nationally known authors in to speak—past authors include Garth Stein, David Sedaris, and Jeannete Walls. This year, the featured Mainstage Authors are Ronni Lundy, Patrick Bringley, Victoria Christopher Murray, and David Baldacci.

Other events going on throughout the weekend include a poetry reading by The Porch Poets, the If I Kept One Book community chalkboard, a literary fashion design contest, writing workshops, and of course, the festival bookstore (located in the Greenbrier County CVB), where I’ll be camped out among other authors, selling my own autographed books and merch! This is a festival for every kind of bookworm—click here for the schedule. And while it’s all FREE, you have to reserve tickets for the mainstage author talks, as seating is limited (some are already sold out, but you can get on a waiting list). So get your tickets now before it’s too late.

The Porch Poets read from their collection

Witness the result of a years-long collaboration of West Virginia poets who met regularly in Pocahontas County to develop what became Porch Poems, a poetry collection by Sherrell Wigal, Cheryl Denise, Susanna Connelly Holstein, and Kirk Judd. A.k.a. the Porch Poets, this group will be kicking off the Lewisburg Literary Festival by reading from their chapbook on Friday evening, 6:00 pm, at the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Come hang out with us!

Come take advantage of this fun, free event in a few weeks. We look forward to seeing you and I know you’ll have a blast.

Keep tabs on the Lewisburg Literary Festival’s Facebook page for updates on what’s happening. Put it on your schedule now, and don’t forget to sign up for the workshops and reserve tickets for the speakers in advance. See you there!
